Birkenstock opens first flagship store in India
The newly-opened store combines Birkenstock's focus on function, quality, and tradition with India's cultural richness.
Birkenstock has officially opened its inaugural flagship store in Mumbai, India.
The store, covering 1600 square feet, combines Birkenstock's focus on function, quality, and tradition with India's cultural richness. It features a replica of the original Birkenstock footbed made by local artisans using copper. Inspired by India's culture, the interior uses locally sourced brass, along with cork, jute, and leather, reflecting the brand's signature materials.
Jens Hattab, regional managing director - Middle East Africa India at Birkenstock, highlighted the milestone coinciding with the brand's 250th anniversary and the growing Indian market's potential.
“India is a dynamic market with ever-growing appreciation for quality and comfort, and we see immense potential for Birkenstock's continued expansion here,” he said.
The store also offers immersive experiences, interactive displays, and the latest Spring/Summer 2024 collection, including exclusive collaborations and sought-after releases.
