Australia’s Harvey Norman hit with class action over warranties

These warranties offered "little to no additional value,” accorrding to the lawsuit.

Australian appliance retailer Harvey Norman and one of its unit are facing a class action lawsuit for allegedly selling ineffective warranties, Reuters reported.

Echo Law said the lawsuit claims that Harvey Norman sold extended warranties, known as "Product Care," to consumers between 17 September 2018 and 17 September 2024, even though these warranties offered little to no additional value, as protections were already provided under the Australian Consumer Law at no cost.

“As such, we consider that Harvey Norman consumers who paid for Product Care should be entitled to compensation,” it stated.
