Singapore ranks seventh globally in Savills’ 'Matcha Index'

Matcha Index highlights cost competitiveness against major tech hubs

Singapore ranked seventh globally in Savills’ inaugural Matcha Index, which assesses urban liveability through café culture, matcha affordability, and quality, according to a Savills report released on 6 January 2026.

Savills placed Singapore in the upper tier of global tech cities, alongside established hubs such as New York, London and San Francisco, reflecting its role as a regional base for technology firms despite higher occupational and living costs.

The index showed Singapore’s costs remained above emerging tech centres such as Bengaluru and Hyderabad, while staying below the most expensive global hubs, positioning the city between affordability and access to talent, infrastructure and capital.

Savills said the Matcha Index aims to help occupiers and investors assess trade-offs between cost, liveability and scale as technology firms weigh location decisions amid continued competition for talent and productivity.
