Restaurant confidence index in HK rises to 6 in Q4

63% of restaurants expect Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day to positively affect their business.

The restaurant confidence index in Hong Kong has risen from 5.1 to 6, showing increased optimism amongst restaurants for 2025, according to a survey by Deliveroo.

The survey, conducted from 2 to 12 January, also highlighted the growing importance of food delivery services, with 93% of restaurants acknowledging that delivery platforms are crucial to their business, either equally or more so in the future.

During the Christmas and New Year period, 61% of restaurants reported stable or increased revenue in dine-in services, whilst 59% saw similar results in takeaway. Overall, 60% of restaurants saw stable or improved revenue in both categories compared to the previous quarter.

Looking ahead, 63% of restaurants expect Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day to positively affect their business. Additionally, 83% of restaurants anticipate that major events like the Hong Kong Sevens and concerts will bring further growth in Q1 2025.
