Luckin Coffee opens 55,000-ton capacity smart roasting center in Qingdao
It features the world’s largest single coffee roaster.
Luckin Coffee has begun operations at a new smart roasting center in Qingdao, investing about $439.2m (RMB3b) in the facility.
The plant has an annual roasting capacity of over 55,000 tons and features the world’s largest single coffee roaster.
It expands the company’s roasting network across Qingdao, Pingnan, Kunshan, and Xiamen (under construction), with total capacity expected to exceed 155,000 tons.
Located near Qingdao Port, the facility enables direct imports of coffee beans from Brazil, Colombia, and Ethiopia, improving supply chain efficiency.
CEO Jinyi Guo said the project strengthens the company’s integrated global supply chain and supports industry modernization.
The facility features advanced automation systems, intelligent warehousing with controlled temperature and humidity, and a flameless regenerative thermal oxidation (FRTO) system designed to reduce emissions.
It has also been built to meet China’s Three-Star Green Building standards and LEED Platinum certification.
