Casella Family Brands to inaugurate 5.7MW solar farm for Yenda site
This will supply 35% of the facility’s power needs.
Wine company Casella Family Brands has partnered with Trinasolar to inaugurate a 5.7-megawatt solar farm near its production facility in Yenda, New South Wales, Australia.
The solar farm will be able to produce 11.53 gigawatts hour (GWh) of electricity annually. This can fulfil around 35% of the needs of Yenda facility that processes and bottles the majority of Casella Family Brands' portfolio, including the yellow tail wine.
This is the first solar farm in Asia Pacific to integrate 2P trackers with large format low voltage 650-655 watt modules. This leads to savings on electrical components and installation labour, and a levelised cost of energy reduction as more large-size modules in longer electrical strings, and therefore more overall generation capacity, can be mounted on each tracker.
Casella Family Brands’ solar farm is seen to boost its efforts to reduce its carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve 100% by 2050.
The project is also a significant development in Australia’s renewable energy as Wine Australia aims to reduce emissions across the supply chain by 42% by 2030 by increasing use of clean electricity.
