Balai ni Fruitas acquires Sugarhouse

It will expand BALAI's product offerings and increase its production capacity.

Philippine's counter service bakery operator Balai ni Fruitas Inc. (BALAI) has announced the signing of a memorandum of agreement to acquire the renowned 40-year-old brand, Sugarhouse.

The acquisition deal, signed on 18 April, encompasses various assets, including intellectual property, technical know-how, delivery systems, equipment, and catering business. 

“With the acquisition of Sugarhouse, BALAI aims to broaden its product offerings, especially in the cake category, and reach a wider customer base,” the group said.

“Additionally, BALAI will benefit from increased production capacity, supporting its growth trajectory. The company also foresees significant synergies with its existing brand portfolio,” it added.

The transaction is set to close by 1 May, pending regulatory approval.
