Rakuten India appoints new CEO

The change takes effect on 5 August 2025.

Rakuten Group, Inc. has named Tsubasa Shiraishi as the new CEO of Rakuten India Enterprise Private Limited, effective 5 August 2025.

Shiraishi currently serves as Vice Chairman of Rakuten India and General Manager of Rakuten Group’s IT Strategy Department. He replaces Sunil Gopinath, who is stepping down after eight years with the company to pursue other opportunities.

Shiraishi has nearly 20 years of international leadership experience. He has spent the past five years at Rakuten India, helping shape its innovation strategy and strengthen its role as a global technology center.

Rakuten India, based in Bengaluru, employs nearly 2,000 professionals and supports the Group’s businesses in e-commerce, fintech, AI, and cloud services.

As CEO, Shiraishi will focus on accelerating innovation, improving operational agility, and deepening collaboration between Rakuten India and the broader Rakuten Group.
