MUJI RETAIL (THAILAND) named Brand Store of the Year - Thailand at Retail Awards Asia 2025

The company was recognised for blending growth, innovation, and community to redefine retail.

MUJI RETAIL (THAILAND) clinched an accolade at the Retail Asia Awards 2025, proving its position as a retail leader.

The company, which focusses on strategic expansion, immersive store concepts, and deep community engagement, now operates 39 stores nationwide, including landmark locations like MUJI One Bangkok and MUJI Central Chiangmai Airport, the largest in Northern Thailand. It recently opened 10 new stores in 2023 and 2024.

This momentum has driven double-digit sales growth, increased foot traffic, and engagement in-store and online.

MUJI Thailand’s stores are designed not only for shopping, but for connection, inspiration, and creativity. The 3,000-square-metre MUJI Central Chiangmai Airport store includes a coffee corner, personalisation services like embroidery and screen printing, and dedicated spaces for local product showcases. Each location reflects regional culture whilst also offering MUJI’s well-loved assortment of high-quality and everyday essentials.

Being a community builder, MUJI Thailand collaborates with local artisans, farmers, and universities and serves as a platform for regional talent and small businesses.

For instance, at MUJI Central Chiangmai Airport, local entrepreneurs host workshops and showcase their products. The brand also partnered with Chiang Mai University’s Faculty of Architecture and has led to the co-creation of artisanal goods inspired by Northern Thai heritage.

MUJI stores in Khonkaen, Udonthani, and Korat offer similar community-focussed programming, whilst MUJI One Bangkok has also opened its space to local suppliers to help them connect with a broader urban audience.

Moreover, to better serve Thai customers and promote sustainability, MUJI Thailand has introduced a range of locally sourced food products. These include chocolate-coated fruits made with Thai mango, banana, orange, and blueberry; natural mineral water from Phetchabun; and shrimp snacks crafted from quality and preservative-free ingredients.

These offerings support Thai farmers and producers and, at the same time, align with MUJI’s commitment to natural, chemical-free, and sustainable living.

MUJI’s unique approach of blending retail innovation, cultural integration, and local partnerships has helped the brand stay relevant amid market challenges.

By turning stores into community hubs, MUJI Thailand is fostering lasting customer relationships and making a meaningful contribution to the Thai economy. It is setting a new standard in retail that is rooted in culture and driven by purpose.
