Here are the top foodservice trends to watch in 2025

Foodservice operators are increasingly adopting multi-channel strategies.

Several key trends are expected to reshape the foodservice industry in 2025, with a focus on multi-channel commerce, innovation in promotions, and the growing influence of social media marketing.

“This year, the key trends shaping the foodservice market will revolve around establishing strong and more dynamic relationships with consumers,” said Fred Diamond, senior food and foodservice analyst at GlobalData.

According to the report, foodservice operators are increasingly adopting multi-channel strategies, blending retail and dining experiences to strengthen brand presence and attract more customers.

In response to economic pressures, foodservice brands are reimagining promotional strategies, with more bundle and mix-and-match deals becoming commonplace.

Major quick-service restaurants (QSRs) like McDonald's, KFC, and Burger King are expanding their "value" menus, introducing affordable combinations to entice budget-conscious consumers. This trend is expected to accelerate in 2025 as QSRs refine their approach to promotions and discounts.

Despite some setbacks in 2023, plant-based meat alternatives remain a significant trend. Whilst fast-food chains have scaled back their vegan offerings, plant-based options continue to be a core part of many menus and are expected to stay relevant throughout 2025.

Social media also continues to drive foodservice marketing, with consumers sharing their dining experiences and "menu hacks" online. Brands are responding by engaging with these trends, using social media to create authentic connections with their audience. This trend will only grow in 2025.

Moreover, consumers are increasingly demanding transparency in food sourcing and sustainability.

About 74% of consumers consider sustainable practices essential when making purchasing decisions, as per GlobalData’s Consumer Survey, Q3 2024. In response, foodservice brands will continue to promote their ethical sourcing efforts and focus on supply chain transparency in 2025.
