CapitaLand, National Gallery SG renews partnership for ‘art-meets-retail’ experiences

The second installation will take place at three CapitaLand malls.

CapitaLand and National Gallery Singapore have renewed their partnership for the second consecutive year involving art installations in CapitaLand malls to deliver “art-meets-retail” experiences to consumers.

In a statement, CapitaLand said the first project under the renewed partnership was the installation of The Gachapartment Complex (2024) by Nikkei at Funan’s Underground Pedestrian Link during the Light to Night Festival 2024 in January.

The area features toys that “lived intricate lives that mirrored our own.” It is also supported by an augmented reality component developed by Temasek Polytechnic students.

The second instalment in August will feature the debut of illustrator Priscilla Tey with her installation titled “It Takes A Village” which will take place at CapitaLand malls - Raffles City Singapore, Plaza Singapura, and CQ @ Clarke Quay.

“We are pleased to extend the partnership with National Gallery Singapore to continue bridging the gap between art and the community at CapitaLand malls. At the heart of our partnership, visitors can look forward to a diverse mix of unique art-meets-retail experiences that celebrate the spirit of creativity and our community,” said June Tan, Head, Business Partnerships and Retail Marketing, Retail & Workspace, CapitaLand Investment.

Tey’s installation will also offer interactive experiences with the activation of AR components through Instagram.
