How consumers use food delivery apps beyond ready-to-eat meals

They also use food delivery apps for groceries and gift shopping, amongst others.

Aside from using food delivery apps to order ready-to-eat meals, consumers are also using such apps for grocery delivery, gift shopping, and donations.

In a statement, Deliveroo said 49% of Singapore consumers claimed that they prefer getting groceries delivered, and 51% would consider grocery delivery via food delivery apps instead of going to supermarkets in person.

Around 47% said grocery delivery would save them time. The survey also found that the average spending on grocery delivery via the food delivery services app was $111.

Meanwhile, 55% said they also prefer having their gifts delivered due to convenience, with half of the respondents agreeing that they plan to order gifts through food delivery services in the next 12 months.

Deliveroo also found that 88% of the respondents also support in-app features that enable them to donate to charity and 89% said they also support tipping riders through in-app features.

“The latest survey results reinforce how the role of food delivery services in Singaporeans’ day-to-day lives has further evolved in today’s landscape,” said Jason Parke, General Manager of Deliveroo Singapore. 

“Going beyond ready-to-eat meals, we see how customers are increasingly turning to food delivery platforms for other goods and services that add value to various aspects of their lives,” he added.
