Alibaba CEO Eddie Wu to lead Taobao and Tmall Group

Wu will also serve as head of Alibaba Cloud.

Alibaba CEO Eddie Wu has taken additional roles as CEO of Taobao and Tmall Group, and head of Alibaba Cloud, effective immediately.

Wu will replace Trudy Dai in the role, who will be assigned to establish Alibaba’s asset management company for its non-core assets.

The reshuffling of the leadership for Alibaba’s most profitable retailer is part of its strategy to enhance the flagship e-commerce platform and cloud computing operations through “significant and sustained investment”, making them competitive in a continually shifting digital retail landscape.

“Eddie’s leadership of both Alibaba Cloud and TTG will ensure total focus on, and significant and sustained investment in, our two core businesses of cloud computing and e-commerce, as well as enabling TTG to transform through technology innovation,” Joe Tsai, Chairman of Alibaba Group, said in a statement.
