Shiseido harnesses AI for innovative cosmetics development

It combines over 100 years of Shiseido’s research expertise with advanced AI technology.

Shiseido has launched a new AI-driven formulation development feature as part of its VOYAGER platform, in partnership with Accenture.

The innovative functionality, fully operational since February, combines over 100 years of Shiseido’s research expertise with advanced AI technology.

The company aims to accelerate the development of groundbreaking beauty products by integrating more than half a million data points, derived from traditional artisan skills (TAKUMI) and various scientific fields.

The initiative aligns with Shiseido's R&D philosophy, Dynamic Harmony, which focuses on merging diverse values to create unique beauty solutions.

The formulation development AI utilises ingredient informatics, analysing extensive product data, including raw materials and formulation insights. It can predict missing data by examining ingredient combinations and stability, facilitating quicker and more precise cosmetic development.

Shiseido plans to enhance the VOYAGER platform further and expand its use across research centers worldwide, reinforcing its commitment to innovation as it strives to become a Personal Beauty Wellness Company by 2030.
