Watsons expands products under the Sustainable Choices scheme

There are now 8,000 products offered under the scheme.

Watsons increased the products under the Sustainable Choices scheme to reach 8,000 and committed to offsetting more than 2,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions as part of its sustainability commitment.

In a statement, Watsons said the Sustainable Choice scheme aims to encourage behavioural change amongst consumers to shift towards a sustainable lifestyle.

Products under the scheme which range from skincare to shampoo need to meet specific criteria such as better ingredients or materials, better packaging, refill packs, and reusable or replaceable components for less waste.

The retailer also partnered with ClimatePartner to launch a carbon compensation project in July to offset carbon emissions of seven Sustainable Choices products.

These products include Naturals by Watsons Coffee Exfoliating Soap, Naturals by Watsons Aloe Vera Shampoo, Watsons Antibacterial Cleansing Wipes, Watsons Bamboo Toothbrush, Watsons Fruity Mask, Watsons Bamboo Paper, and Imew 04 Centalla Asiatica Booster.

“As a leading health and beauty retailer, together with our customers, we are a massive force for good and play a significant role in making an impactful change to our planet,” said A.S. Watsons (Asia & Europe) CEO Malina Ngai.

“Watsons is now accelerating its efforts in tackling environmental challenges and investing in nature-based solutions and carbon compensation projects,” she added.
