Starbucks, Grab enter partnership for six Southeast Asian markets
These markets include Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
Starbucks has entered a partnership with Grab in the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam to integrate the Starbucks Rewards benefits on purchases through Grab.
In a statement, Starbucks said Grab services such as GrabPay, GrabRewards, GrabFood, GrabExpress, and GrabGifts will be included in the integrated partnership.
Under the partnership, Starbucks Rewards members will be able to link their accounts with GrabRewards and earn both the Stars and GrabRewards points for their orders made through GrabFood.
Customers will also be allowed to sign up for a Starbucks Rewards membership through the Grab app and redeem free beverages, birthday treats, and exclusive offers from participating stores in the future.
This feature will be introduced in the Philippines in the second half of the year and is planned to be expanded to other Southeast Asian markets by 2024.
Starbucks services and solutions through Grab will also be expanded which include allowing customers to pay with the same e-wallet online and in-store, order online for in-store pick-up via GrabFood, instant delivery through GrabExpress, and social gifting through GrabGifts.
Starbucks added that the partnership will help provide food assistance to communities in need in the Southeast Asian region whilst reducing food waste through the expanded Starbuck FoodShare food donation program, starting this March in the Philippines.
“Our partnership with Grab allows us to provide more options for customers to create a Starbucks Experience that is right for them, while also helping to deliver [a] positive impact in the communities we serve through [the] FoodShare program,” Erin Silvoy, vice president, product and marketing, Starbucks Asia Pacific, said.
