South Korea's Bunjang launches AI authentication system to fight counterfeits
It verifies authenticity in just six seconds with 99.9% accuracy.
South Korean recommerce platform Bunjang has launched Corelytics, an AI-powered authentication system developed with its subsidiary Insightview Tech.
Corelytics uses deep-learning algorithms and non-destructive X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis to identify products based on their unique material composition.
The system verifies authenticity in just six seconds with 99.9% accuracy, without damaging the item.
The launch attracted attention from WIPO Director General Daren Tang, MOIP, and the Korea Customs Service, who attended live demonstrations at the event.
Built on Bunjang’s database of years of physical inspections, Corelytics follows an 18-step process with 154 checkpoints, combining human expertise, AI, and scientific analysis.
Bunjang said the technology will help protect the fast-growing recommerce industry, which is expected to reach US$51.8 billion by 2026. To reinforce buyer confidence, its Bungae Care service offers 200% compensation if a product authenticated as genuine is later proven counterfeit.
Bunjang plans to expand Corelytics by developing portable inspection devices for field use.
The system was officially introduced at the 2025 Counterfeit Appraisal Technology Conference hosted by the Ministry of Intellectual Property (MOIP).
