Nearly three-quarters of APAC retailers struggling from omnichannel squeeze
One of the challenges they face is reducing shrinkage.
The majority of retailers in Asia Pacific claimed that they are experiencing the omnichannel squeeze, with 74% citing challenges in minimising shrink or the reduction of inventory over theft, fraud and other factors.
A Zebra Technologies report found that the figure is lower than the 82% of retailers globally finding difficulty in reducing fraud/shrink.
In 2022, retailers lost $112b due to shrink, higher than the nearly $94b in 2021, according to data from the National Retail Federation.

Meanwhile, around 89% of retailers in the region said forecasting demand is crucial for their organisations.
About 40% of the retailers said that better analytics on shrink could boost profitability.
As such around 55% of retailers in the region are expecting to implement loss prevention analytics and 61% eye demand planning and forecasting by 2026.
