Foodpanda Singapore launches XL stores as basket sizes increase
These stores carry a 30% larger inventory than standard outlets.
Foodpanda has announced the launch of two new "pandamart XL" stores in Singapore.
The expansion follows a 7% rise in grocery order frequency since 2023 and an 8% increase in items per order over the past year.
Each pandamart XL carries an inventory that is 30% larger than a standard outlet, offering an increased assortment of everyday staples, imported specialties, and household essentials.
The model allows customers to shop more intentionally and stock up on more products in a single order with delivery completed within an hour.
Bhavani Mishra, managing director of foodpanda Singapore, these stores were specifically built to provide better value and a wider selection for customers who are planning their shopping more carefully.
The rollout of these new locations follows a successful pilot program in Redhill launched in 2025, bringing the total number of XL stores to three.
In conjunction with the store openings, foodpanda released its first Kiasu Pasar Report, which highlights significant shifts in Singaporean shopping habits.
According to its Kiasu Pasar Report, shoppers are increasingly using quick-commerce for routine daily planning rather than emergency fixes, with fresh produce now appearing in seven out of ten orders.
Additionally, the data shows a strong move toward value-based shopping, as one in two grocery orders now includes housebrand items.
There is also a 20% increase in the purchase of frozen meals and cooking condiments, reflecting a demand for simpler, time-saving kitchen solutions.
Moreover, Singaporeans are showing a growing appetite for global flavors, evidenced by a 20% rise in the availability and purchase of Japanese and Korean products on the platform.
