Clarins honoured as Cosmetics Retailer of the Year - Singapore at the Retail Asia Awards 2023

The brand was honoured for its innovative French botanist hub concept, with its latest innovation in cashier-less store concept, revolutionising the customer experience.

Clarins, the renowned French beauty brand, has been honoured at the Retail Asia Awards 2023 in Singapore. The company has been recognised as the Cosmetics Retailer of the Year - Singapore and also received the O2O Customer Experience of the Year - Singapore award for its innovative cashier-less store initiative within its well-recognised French botanist hub concept.

Retail is a strategic area of development for Clarins in APAC, whilst entails a constant revolution of the way our consumers experience the brand in-store.

In September 2020, Clarins launched its new eco-responsible design concept, the French botanist hub with a focus on 3 zones: Excitement, Expertise and Engagement. Upon entering Clarins' store, customers can discover the latest novelties and services available at Clarins. They can also learn about the long-standing commitments of Clarins to corporate responsible beauty. Finally, comfortably installed in the Skin Atelier, the customer can receive professional beauty advice from highly trained Beauty Coaches.

In May 2022, Clarins introduced its latest innovation, the first cashier-less store in Singapore, transforming the traditional way of payment process our consumers normally experience. The traditional physical cashier was entirely removed, and Beauty Coaches were equipped with multi-functional mobile devices which can help them process payment but also check customer purchase history, beauty prescription, etc. The payment can take place anywhere inside the store.

The gain in space allowed the brand to increase the comfort level of customers with increased browsing space and sitting capacity.

With this mobile payment innovation, customers don’t need to leave their chairs anymore and wait in line to pay for their purchases at the cashier. The Beauty Coach also doesn’t need to walk back to the cashier and can dedicate 100% of her time to her customer. The entire consultation & payment process can take place directly at the consultation table.

In line with Clarins' efforts to reduce paper usage, customers are offered the option to receive an e-receipt by email. A print paper receipt is also available.

With the ambition to operate 110 boutiques by 2025 in Asia-Pacific, the successful pilot in Singapore has proven this as a permanent innovation to incorporate into the brand’s retail concept. Clarins has rolled out the cashier-less store concept in other boutiques in Malaysia and Hong Kong. The company has plans to expand this innovative concept to China and Europe soon.
