Uniqlo to open 5 new stores in Singapore in 2022
It will include the first neighbourhood store along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.
Uniqlo is expanding its footprint in Singapore in 2022 as it plans to open five new stores and refresh two of its existing stores, bringing the total Uniqlo local stores to 31.
In a statement, Uniqlo said the five new stores include its first neighbourhood store at 51 @ Ang Mo Kio, a standalone building along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 at the end of the first quarter.
"Our footprint in Singapore started in the heartland estate at Tampines. To complement our existing network of mall-based outlets, the new store at Ang Mo Kio 51 will bring LifeWear essentials closer to home to the heartlanders to enjoy shopping convenience,” said Yuki Yamada, Chief Executive Officer at UNIQLO Singapore and Malaysia.
The 1,297 square metres Ang Mo Kio store will pilot community partnership projects and sustainability initiatives and will include inclusive in-store features such as a wheelchair-friendly.
It will also offer customers with special needs an assisted shopping experience at their preferred time slots through advanced booking, the first retailer in Singapore to do so, it said.
For special cases, Uniqlo said slots can be booked for pre-store-opening hours where lights will be dimmed and music will be muted and as assisted by trained store staff.
It will also launch the Uniqlo Repair Studio, the first permanent offering in Asia, which will offer basic on-site repairs including replacing fallen buttons, mending split seams and patching torn pockets.
