Popeyes opens first store in India

More stores will be opened in New BEL and Kammanahalli.

Foodservice firm Jubilant Foodworks Limited (JFL) launched US Fried Chicken brand Popeyes in India, opening its first restaurant in Bengaluru in Koramangala last 19 January.

JFL said in a statement that the opening of the flagship store In Koramangala will be followed by store openings in New BEL Road and Kammanahalli.

Popeyes will also have its own mobile application and website. JFL also built an in-house delivery fleet of e-bikes to ensure zero-emissions.

“We are excited to introduce the Popeyes® Louisiana Kitchen brand to chicken-loving Indian consumers. We are confident that Popeyes® will not only delight guests but also strategically complement our portfolio and fortify JFL’s leadership in the QSR domain,” JFL Chairman Shyam Bhartia and Co-Chairman Hari Bhartia said.

JFL said Popeyes will follow stringent protocols to ensure the safety of its customers and employees, such as daily temperature screening and frequent sanitation of the restaurant and delivery bikes.

All staff members have also been fully vaccinated and were frequently tested, it said.
