Ikea unveils planned mall with ‘edutainment’ space in Gurugram
The development seeks to be a gathering place for leisure, entertainment, and retail in India.
Ikea has unveiled its plans to launch a mixed-use development in Gurugram in India, offering a mix of hospitality, food and beverage, ‘edutainment’ learning spaces, alongside retail anchored by an Ikea store, the company said in a press release.
The estimated 130,000 sqm development sought to set the standard for the next generation of sustainable mixed-use destinations, acting as a gathering place for leisure, entertainment and retail in one of the world’s fastest growing markets.
The estimated investment for the project is around $451.13m (INR 3500 crores). Whilst construction will start in early 2022, the new meeting place is expected to generate more than 2500 jobs in India.
The new meeting place will be developed under the new Livat brand, a Swedish word that means ‘a lively happening’ as it seeks to provide easy access to wellbeing, a sustainable lifestyle and belonging, whilst meeting everyday needs.
