Dairy Queen launches first DQ Blizzard & Burgers restaurant in China

This is the first DQ restaurant in Asia to offer a full range of hot food.

International Dairy Queen, Inc. (IDQ) and its partner CFB Group have launched the first DQ® Blizzard® & Burgers restaurant in China.

The new Shanghai-based location, situated at Wujiang Lu No. 169, is the first DQ restaurant in Asia to offer a full range of hot food, including burgers, chicken, fries, and onion rings, alongside the brand's renowned Blizzard treats.

“Bringing our hot food menu to the 20 countries where we do business is critical to achieve our business growth goals,” said Troy Bader, president and CEO at International Dairy Queen.

“With more than 1,500 DQ treat locations in China, adding DQ Blizzard & Burgers restaurants will contribute to us becoming a balanced food and treat leader globally,” he said.

Alan Hsu, CEO of CFB Group, said that two more DQ Blizzard & Burgers locations will open in Shanghai by the end of September, with plans to reach 180 locations by 2034

“Our goal is to position DQ restaurants as the balanced food and treat leader in China, and the grand opening of the first DQ Blizzard & Burgers restaurant is the beginning,” he said.

With over 1,200 DQ locations across mainland China, the country is the second-largest market for IDQ, following the United States.
