Central Retail’s food business pushes sustainability with EV delivery trucks

The initial phase will launch 10 EV trucks.

Tops, the food business arm of Central Retail partnered with DHL Supply Chain Thailand to roll out four-wheeled electric vehicles (EV) trucks as part of its “Green & Sustainable Retail” initiative.

In a statement, Central Retail said the initial launch of the programme will include 10 units of EV trucks which will deliver goods from DHL Bangna Logistics capus to Tops Daily stores in Bangkok.

Furthermore, Tops aims to increase its EV trucks to 29 vehicles by 2024 to cover more areas in different provincial routes such as Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Sawan, and Chiang Mai.

This will support the company’s target to contribute to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 2,667 tonnes annually and by at least 13,335 tonnes within five years.
