Central Retail opens $35.2m Robinson Lifestyle, Department Store in Phuket
Its first phase opened on 20 September, whilst full service is expected by year-end.
Central Retail has launched the Robinson Lifestyle Shopping Centre and Department Store Chalong in the province of Phuket with a total investment of $35.2m (THB1.3b).
In a statement, Central Retail said it selected the province as Phuket is Thailand’s top province in terms of making the highest gross domestic product from tourism.
“Chalong is one of Phuket’s strategic locations. As a commercial centre of the gulf, featuring Chalong port and many tourist attractions, Chalong has become a popular tourist destination," said Philippe Broianigo, Chief Executive Officer - Property and Business Development, Robinson Lifestyle under Central Retail.
"Phuket also experiences growing population, where three out of four population are of working age, making it a high-potential location,” he added.

Central Retail said the mall is “more than a lifestyle destination shopping centre” as it is targetted to provide “better quality of lives, socioeconomically and environmentally, in a sustainable manner.”
The mall also followed the “Retailtainment” concept, as it features a Carnival Village which spans over over 43,000 square metres and three floors.
It is Robinson’s 28th branch, making the company the retailer with the most coverage in 25 provinces.
