Alibaba’s Tmall readies for upcoming 11.11 Singles Day promo

It has opened registrations for merchants and revamped its luxury platform.

Alibaba’s business-to-consumer marketplace, Tmall, is prepping up for the upcoming 11.11 Singles Day promo by opening registrations for merchants and revamping its luxury retail platform, according to a news release.

New merchants will be able to join the shopping festival that will have two sales windows, from 1 to 3 November and 11 November. Pre-sales will also start as early as 8 pm instead of midnight.

At the same time, Tmall Luxury Pavilion’s revamp aims to make it easier for consumers to engage with brands. Shoppers can now tap the top of the Pavilion’s homepage to explore a calendar of brand events and see the newest limited-edition product drops at a glance.

In addition, they can personalise their feeds to get the latest news and updates from the brands they follow.

The upgraded site prominently features branded benefits, featuring a dedicated tab for everything from after-sales services to member-only perks and premium experiences. A special portal also takes luxury shoppers into a “virtual city” where they can find 3D, virtual reality and augmented reality features from nearly 30 brands and even take a virtual tour of Marriott hotels.
