Yum China grows store count to nearly 17,000 in Q2
Of the new openings, 89 were franchise stores.
Yum China added 336 net new stores in the second quarter of 2025, bringing its total store count to 16,978. This includes 12,238 KFC locations and 3,864 Pizza Hut locations.
Of the new openings, 89 were franchise stores, accounting for 26% of the growth.
Total system sales increased 4% year over year, excluding foreign exchange, driven by new store expansion and modest same-store sales growth. Revenue reached $2.8b, up 4% from the same period last year.
CEO Joey Wat said the company achieved solid results through strong execution and innovation.
Yum China drove traffic with new menu items like KFC’s Crazy Spicy Zinger and Pizza Hut’s upgraded thin-crust pizza. Special promotions, including IP-themed meal sets, set a new daily sales record on Children’s Day.
KFC expanded its KCOFFEE format to over 1,300 stores, and Pizza Hut’s new menu attracted more budget-conscious customers, leading to double-digit growth in same-store transactions.
Wat said digitalisation, delivery growth, and loyalty programs continue to improve customer experience and drive sustainable growth.
