Shiseido consolidates manufacturing under Japan-based operations
It will close its Hsinchu Factory in Taiwan.
Shiseido Company Limited has decided to close the Hsinchu Factory of its subsidiary, Taiwan Shiseido Co., Ltd., and transfer production to its facilities in Japan, including the Nasu Factory.
The decision is part of Shiseido’s 2030 Medium-Term Strategy, which focuses on global production and logistics optimization to improve efficiency and brand value.
As part of its strategic pillar, “Evolve Global Operations,” Shiseido is working to optimize its global production and logistics network. Under the new plan, manufacturing currently carried out at the Hsinchu Factory—where Shiseido holds a 51% stake—will be relocated primarily to Japanese sites, including the Nasu Factory.
The company said the move will increase capacity utilization and reduce costs by consolidating manufacturing in Japan.
Meanwhile, Taiwan Shiseido will focus on its local distribution business following the closure, aiming to operate in a more streamlined and responsive way.
