Kolmar Korea opens second US factory to expand K-beauty, avoid tariffs
It is part of the brand’s strategy to minimise supply chain risks.
Kolmar Korea has completed construction and launched operations at its second manufacturing facility in the United States, strengthening its presence in the world’s largest cosmetics market and creating a local production base to avoid rising trade tariffs.
The new factory, located in Scott Township, Pennsylvania, is part of Kolmar’s strategy to expand K-beauty globally whilst minimising supply chain risks. The facility spans 17,805㎡ (191,651 sq. ft.) and has an annual capacity of 120 million units. With this addition, Kolmar’s total U.S. output reaches 300 million units, and 470 million across North America, making it the largest cosmetics ODM in the region.
About 100 people attended the event, including Pennsylvania State Representative Bridget Kosierowski and local officials.
The factory focuses on skincare and suncare products, areas with high demand in the U.S. market. It complements Kolmar’s first U.S. plant, which produces color cosmetics. The company also holds a U.S. FDA OTC license, enabling it to manufacture sunscreens and quickly respond to the rising demand for K-sunscreen products.
Kolmar replicated its high-tech Sejong Plant in Korea for the new facility. It includes AI-powered quality control, process optimisation, and 80% automation. Logistics and worker pathways are also modelled for safety and efficiency.
