Marks & Spencer returns to Philippines with new franchise deal
First new store planned for Glorietta in Makati.
Marks & Spencer has signed a new franchise agreement with PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAP) to operate and grow its business in the Philippines.
The deal is part of M&S’s strategy to expand through capital-light partnerships with established regional franchise operators. MAP already runs M&S franchise operations in Indonesia and Vietnam, where it has worked with the brand for more than 26 years.
Under the agreement, M&S Fashion, Home & Beauty, and Food will relaunch in the Philippines by the end of 2026, with the first store set to open at Glorietta in Makati.
M&S International Managing Director Mark Lemming said the expanded partnership builds on MAP’s track record in the region.
“We know there is strong demand for the M&S brand in the Philippines, and we’re excited to reopen our stores and online channels later this year,” he said.
MAP Fashion CEO Sameer Prasad said the move marks an important milestone. “The Philippines is an exciting and fast-growing market, and Manila is the ideal place to begin this next chapter for M&S,” he said. “With its strong heritage, trusted quality, and timeless appeal, M&S continues to resonate with consumers across generations.”
M&S previously confirmed it would shift to a new franchise partner in the Philippines as it looks to accelerate growth in Southeast Asia. The brand has operated in the country since 1984.
