Bulla tops Peters in Australia’s ice cream market share

Connoisseur and Streets lost funnel strength.

Bulla has maintained its lead in the Australian packaged ice cream, sorbet, and gelato market through the first four months of 2026, whilst Peters ranked second, with Connoisseur and Streets also tracked in Conjointly Brand Tracker’s recent report.

Both Bulla and Peters recorded 86% aided awareness in April 2026, but had a three percentage-point difference in consideration, at 69% and 66%, respectively.

Bulla recorded 55% purchase in the past six months and 24% preferred brand, whilst Peters recorded 49% purchase and 21% preferred brand.

Peters increased its preferred brand score from 18% in December 2025 to 21% in April 2026, narrowing the gap with Bulla over the period, whilst Bulla’s preferred brand position remained between 24% and 26%.

Streets recorded the largest movement in awareness across the period, falling from 83% in December 2025 to 69% in February 2026 before recovering to 72% in April.

Consideration for Streets declined from 61% in December to 52% in February and stood at 51% in April.

Connoisseur recorded declines across all measured stages of the funnel, with aided awareness falling from 66% in December 2025 to 57% in April 2026.

The brand’s consideration declined from 46% to 39%, purchase in the past six months fell from 30% to 24%, and preferred brand decreased from 15% to 12%.

Ben & Jerry’s recorded lower awareness and consideration over the period, with aided awareness falling from 74% to 69% and consideration from 40% to 36%. Preferred brand remained between 8% and 9%.

Golden North recorded low awareness of around 10% across the period but showed a higher share of preference amongst those aware of the brand.

In April 2026, 1% of respondents identified it as their preferred brand, with earlier waves recording 17% in December 2025 and February 2026, and 11% in the latter two waves.

The findings come from a syndicated study of 5,425 Australian adults, including 3,724 respondents who reported purchasing packaged ice cream, sorbet, or gelato in the past six months.
