Google launches AI-powered virtual try-on feature in Singapore

The feature works with a single uploaded photo.

Google has launched its AI-powered try on feature in Singapore, allowing shoppers to virtually try on clothing and shoes before making a purchase online.

The feature lets users upload a full-length photo and see how apparel items, including tops, bottoms, dresses, sneakers, heels, and loafers would look on them. It is available through Google Search, Google Shopping, and Google Images and will roll out more widely in the coming weeks.

Powered by Google's custom fashion AI model, the tool understands body shapes and how different fabrics fold, stretch, and drape. This enables it to generate realistic previews of how clothing would appear on an individual rather than on a model.

Users can access the feature by selecting an apparel product listing and tapping the “Try It On” icon. They can save their favorite looks, compare styles, share results with friends, and purchase items directly through participating merchants’ websites.

The company said it aims to make online fashion shopping more personalised and help consumers shop with greater confidence by bringing a fitting-room experience to their screens.
