IKEA Japan to shut Harajuku and Shinjuku stores

IKEA Shibuya will become the company’s central Tokyo hub.

IKEA Japan will close its Harajuku and Shinjuku stores on Sunday, 8 February 2026, and shift its central Tokyo operations to IKEA Shibuya, the company announced.

Both stores will remain open until 18:00 on their final day.

The retailer said IKEA Shibuya will become its main hub in central Tokyo following the closures.

IKEA Family and IKEA Business members who listed Harajuku or Shinjuku as their preferred store must update their selection online.

If no changes are made by the closing date, the preferred store will automatically be changed to IKEA Shibuya.
