Japan's ABC-MART to launch first Philippine store in September
A second store is also planned to open in November 2025.
Japan's ABC-MART, INC. has announced its entry into the Philippine market, marking its fifth overseas expansion.
The company will open its first store in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, in late September 2025.
As of 30 June, the ABC-MART Group operates 1,501 stores worldwide, including 1,106 in Japan and 395 overseas. Its overseas footprint includes 320 stores in South Korea, 62 in Taiwan, 8 in the United States, and 5 in Vietnam. The company’s core business centers around its retail shoe store chain, "ABC-MART."
The company said it sees strong growth potential in the Philippines due to its young, growing population and strong consumer demand.
ABC-MART will partner with local firm SONAK to form a joint venture, leveraging SONAK’s market knowledge and developer ties to localize operations and product offerings.
A second store is planned to open in November 2025 at the MITSUKOSHI BGC mall, targeting families with a different store format.
ABC-MART plans to open five stores in the Philippines in fiscal 2026, focusing on Metro Manila with possible future expansion to Cebu and Davao.
The company expects minimal financial impact from the expansion in the current fiscal year.
