Rakuten Rakuma to expand cross-border sales on eBay USA

It aims to boost international sales for merchants.

Japan's Rakuten Rakuma will fully launch cross-border sales on eBay USA in late February, allowing American shoppers to buy pre-owned fashion from Rakuma Official Shops.

The Rakuma Overseas Omakase Plan is now open to Rakuma Official Shop owners. Products listed under the plan will be covered by eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee, which offers free appraisals for brand-name goods.

Initially available for handbags, the service will expand to other categories. The price cap on handbag listings will also be removed, encouraging higher-value sales.

Rakuma began trialling eBay sales in May 2024 with seven shops, later expanding to over 30. The move aims to boost international sales for merchants.

eBay Japan’s July-September 2024 data showed women’s apparel & bag brand accessories and watches, parts & accessories remained top-selling categories. Rakuma said it will prioritise fashion items before expanding into other products.
