FairPrice Group offers over $4.5m in May Day discounts

From 25 April, union members get a 50% discount on selected essential items for three weeks.

FairPrice Group (FPG) is offering over $4.5m in savings and discounts on daily essentials for all National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and Link members for May Day. This is up from $2m in 2023.

In a statement, Vipul Chawla, group chief executive officer of FPG, emphasised the company's dedication to its social mission amid persistent inflation and cost pressures.

“This May Day, true to our roots, we are demonstrating this commitment by setting a benchmark for the prices of daily staples, ensuring that they remain affordable and readily available,” he said.

Starting 25 April, Union members can enjoy a 50% discount on selected items every Thursday for three weeks. Additional deals will be announced for 1 and 9 May.

Moreover, the FairPrice Foundation, in partnership with Kopitiam, will also offer NTUC Union members 50-cent kopi or teh at selected outlets in May and June. On 1 May, children get a free milo with the 50-cent drinks.

Since 2019, FPG has returned over $900 million in discounts and donations. In 2023, savings reached $15.2m, continuing into 2024 with discounts for various groups.

“We hope that these measures will go some way in helping the Singaporean worker manage their family’s day-to-day expenses,” said Ng Chee Meng, Secretary-General of NTUC.
