Suntory profit jumps 40% in H1

The beverage company reported a profit of JPY74b.

Beverage company Suntory Group reported its profit attributable to owners grew by 40.2%year-on-year to JPY70b in the first half of the year. 

The group reported its business expanded in three segments both domestically and abroad. 

Over the same period, Suntory recorded revenue growth of 15.2%YoY to JPY1.37t when including excise taxes, and an operating income of JPY150.6b, which is up 19.4%YoY. 

In particular, Suntory’s Beverages and Foods segment saw a 12.5%YoY revenue increase to JPY676.5b and a nearly 30% growth in its operating income to JPY90.8b.

Moreover, the Group’s Alcoholic Beverages segment registered growth after its revenue rose 18.5% to JPY564.3b. 

Suntory also posted a revenue growth from its Others segment, consisting of its health and wellness products, and restaurant business. 

During the period, the Group’s revenue from the segment rose 15.8% to JPY132.2b. 

For the full-year, the group projected its profit to increase 0.9% YoY to JPY115b, and its revenue including excise taxes climb by 8.5%YoY to JPY2.77t.
