Growing mobile usage in India to boost Tata Super App: report

The Tata Neu super app brings together all of its digital services in a single platform.

The increasing mobile usage in India could boost Tata Group’s new super app, Tata Neu, which brings together all of its digital services in a single platform, Fitch Solutions reported.

“We believe India is a prime market for the development of super apps,” Fitch reported.

“A large young, urban and tech-savvy consumer group will provide the base of an attractive consumer market while increasing incomes and rising mobile penetration rates will drive growth in e-commerce.”

By the end of 2021, the mobile penetration rate in India stood at around 85%. In this light, Fitch projected the mobile market to expand to 1.37 billion users in 2031 from 1.19 billion in 2021.

“Rising mobile usage would see a greater proportion of the population having the ability to access to super apps as well as the services they offer,” the report also read.

In addition, Fitch sees positive growth in 4G and 5G that Tata could leverage with the launch of its super app.

Citing its data, 4G subscribers are expected to grow to 650.3 million by 2031, whilst 5G connections could rise to 706.58 million. This will account for approximately 44.9% of the market.
