First stand-alone Hermès store in Beijing showcases craft and culture
The design draws inspiration from the nearby Forbidden City
Hermès has opened its fourth store in Beijing, located in the Sanlitun district.
The five-story building, designed by RDAI with Mamou-Mani Architects, features a rose-pink and terracotta ceramic façade that lets natural light fill the interior.
Inside, a central stone staircase connects open-plan floors. The ground floor showcases shoes, silks, perfumes, and beauty products.
The first floor houses silk, equestrian collections, and fashion jewelry. The second floor features ready-to-wear, shoes, and private salons. The third floor presents home collections, leather goods, watches, and jewelry. The top floor offers a private salon with a landscaped terrace.
The design draws inspiration from the nearby Forbidden City, combining contemporary architecture with artisanal details.
Local artist Liu Jianhua created a suspended ceramic and marble installation above the staircase, whilst Chinese artist Tong Ren contributed a special Parade en Fanfare collection for the opening.
