Starbucks Korea limits mobile order after employee complaints

Its staff protested last October over heavy workloads during marketing events.

Multinational coffeehouse chain Starbucks has decided to set a limit on the number of mobile orders in its South Korea stores until the end of this year following complaints from its employees of exhaustive workload, Korea Bizwire reported.

The number of mobile siren orders available until 31 December during the winter e-frequency reward program event will be limited to 10 from the previous 20.

The company said this order restriction is intended to ease customers’ inconvenience and prevent excessive orders targeted at e-frequency freebies.

The company’s employees launched a truck protest last October over massive workloads as a result of the company’s marketing events, such as the 50th anniversary event in September that drew an overwhelming number of customers by offering limited-edition reusable plastic cups.
