They are also increasingly opting for contactless payments.

As the holiday season approaches, shopping remains as the top priority for Filipino travellers, with 67% planning to shop during their trips, according to a recent Visa survey.

The survey also revealed that 43% of Filipino travelers are seeking new experiences, with sightseeing (82%) and exploring local cuisine (67%) ranking among their top activities.

Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan have emerged as the top destinations,

Singapore, a top choice for 38% of respondents, offers a vast array of retail options, from luxury boutiques to local markets, making it an attractive destination for holiday shoppers. Hong Kong follows closely, with 31% of travelers favoring its diverse shopping districts, known for high-end brands, electronics, and bargain finds. Japan, visited by 30% of travelers, offers a unique shopping experience, blending traditional markets with modern malls.

Alongside this shopping surge, Filipinos are increasingly opting for contactless payments.

The survey showed that 66% of travelers prefer using mobile wallets and tap-to-pay cards. However, 71% still carry cash as a backup, especially where digital payments are less common.
