JD.com sees above ¥100m sales in first 5 minutes of ¥10b-discount programme
Its sales and user order volume were four times higher than 2022’s figures.
E-commerce firm, JD.com, generated ¥100m (US$13.6m) in transactions during the first five minutes of its 10-billion-yuan discount programme, with toys and Suqian hairy crabs as standouts in the sale.
“Standout categories included toys from the industrial belts, growing by 200%, and Suqian hairy crabs which saw a 30-fold sales boost. Jewellery and accessory flash sales also crossed the 100-million-yuan mark,” read the statement.
The home appliance trade-in programme saw a 13-fold YoY spike within the first 10 minutes, and digital products in the 3C category generated three times in sales.
Omnichannel services through JD Super, which catered to fast-moving consumer goods, soared elevenfold. Eyewear products, which have a 180-day exchange window, generated a 240% rise, and the autumn flu vaccine online booking service grew tenfold.
On 23 October at 8 p.m., JD.com rolled out its Singles’ Day Grand Promotion. Within the first 10 minutes of the event, both user orders and overall transaction volume skyrocketed, generating over four times last year’s figures.
During this sales period, iPhone, Xiaomi, and Huawei exceeded ¥100m in mere seconds. Over 100 top-tier home appliance brands saw a tenfold YoY sales jump.
Automotive products, especially new energy charging stations and innovative car accessories documented a 60-fold YoY surge.
Electric wheelchair sales witnessed a tenfold increase, showing an increasing demand for elderly care products. JD Worldwide, JD.com’s import division, doubled its YoY sales across 280+ imported categories.
