Grab expands grocery service across Southeast Asia

It has welcomed big store chains in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, and Vietnam.

Southeast Asian superapp Grab is expanding its grocery delivery service across Southeast Asia, welcoming major supermarket and convenience store chains onto its everyday goods delivery service GrabMart, the company said in a press release.

New partners joining GrabMart include Indonesian convenience store chain Indomaret in Indonesia, Thai hypermarket chain Big C, Lotus’s Malaysia, Philippines-based membership supermarket S&R, and Vietnam-based grocery wholesaler Mega Market.

Consumers will be able to shop from these stores, have their orders delivered instantly to their doors or at their preferred time, and earn Ovo Rewards and GrabRewards points for their purchases, the company said.

With a growing number of supermarket partnerships across the region, Grab also plans to trial “Shopper”, a shopping assistant solution, in selected supermarkets this year, helping retail staff in picking and packing consumers’ grocery orders as they move through shopping aisles.

GrabMart is currently available across all of Grab’s eight operating markets. It also operates its own online supermarket brand, GrabSupermarket in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
