Carousell deploy AI detection and manual moderation to shut down sales of Taylor Swift concert tickets
This is because of the recent rise in ticket sale scams.
E-commerce platform Carousell has deployed a mix of AI detection and manual moderation to remove user-generated listings as a rise of ticket sale scams rose in the last month ahead of international singer Taylor Swift's concert in Singapore.
According to the Singapore police, 1,500 people have fallen prey to concert ticket scams over the past year.
In line with this, Carousell has made the call to stop the sale of Taylor Swift concert tickets in the channel across six of its markets.
Suspension of ticket sales will last from 23 February to 9 March 2024, removing existing listings on the platform last 26 February.
Aside from the suspension of ticket sales, users can also report any listings through the “Report Listing” feature on the site and the app. All reports will be reviewed 24 hours after being reported.

According to Carousell, selling concert tickets is not prohibited in its community guidelines as they are an 'open and inclusive marketplace'.
"However, this concert is unique in that we expect many overseas concertgoers who may not know how to adequately protect themselves from local scam tactics. Hence we are stepping in to do our part to manage the situation in our platform,” Su Lin Tan, Chief of Staff at Carousell, said.
