Around half of APAC consumers frequently order overseas online
Better quality products are the top driver for cross-border purchases.
Asia Pacific consumers are looking at international retailers with 52% of customers in the region saying they often buy from businesses overseas, led by Chinese and Thai shoppers.
According to a DHL report, 20% of Chinese and 23% of Thais buy at least once daily from overseas retailers.
Consumers in the region cited better quality products as the top reason for buying overseas at 44%, followed by the lack of product or brand in the country at 43%.

Meanwhile, long delivery times (55%) and fear of fraud (49%) remain as barriers to cross-border shopping.
“This means that online retailers and delivery providers need to be able to give shoppers the confidence their purchases will arrive safely and quickly,” DHL said.
