Apex Footwear lands two wins at Retail Asia Awards 2025

It was recognised as the Footwear Retailer of the Year - Bangladesh and was awarded the Sustainability Initiative of the Year - Bangladesh title.

Major shoemaker Apex Footwear brought home two major accolades in the prestigious Retail Asia Awards 2025 for its stellar performance in 2024, which has made it a standout player in the footwear retail sector, as well as its sustainability commitments that have driven its operations.

In the past year, the company has demonstrated exceptional resilience by maintaining revenue stability and achieving notable growth, recording US$104.6m in revenue with a 9% YoY increase. This performance becomes even more remarkable as it happened amidst the July Revolution in 2024, which has left a deep scar on the nation’s economic landscape.

As of writing, Apex Footwear has the largest coverage of any footwear brand in Bangladesh in a border-to-border formation, with over 490 stores nationally and a sales force of over 1,200 personnel. It has also introduced a total of 10 own brands and over 2,500 designs of footwear articles and has offered authentic international brands.

Its ability to stay ahead of market trends has translated into increased sales and enhanced brand loyalty. Currently, it has a total of over 4.8 million loyal customers in its rewards programme, where customers may redeem points based on previous purchases for discounts and exclusive membership privileges. It has also pioneered innovative marketing campaigns, creating a distinct brand identity and fostering a deeper connection with its target audience.

“The company's commitment to excellence, resilience in overcoming challenges, and forward-thinking approach to innovation make it a standout player in the footwear retail sector on a national and global level,” it said.

Meanwhile, Apex Footwear has also integrated sustainability into its core business model, pioneering energy-efficient practices, responsible sourcing, and waste reduction strategies.

With 40% of its current energy coming from solar power, it has reduced 1,542 tons of carbon dioxide. It also purchases 773 MWh of green energy annually and has saved 1,298.54 MWh of electricity through efficiency measures.

In terms of water conservation and wastewater management, Apex Footwear has saved 4.2 million litres of water through its rainwater harvesting system and has also reduced water usage by 1,594 cubic metres through innovative recycling techniques.

In 2027, the company aims for a 65% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions through energy efficiency, green energy expansion, and material circularity. It also aims to increase its green power consumption from 773 MWh to 873 MWh annually. It also aims to expand its water conservation measures, increasing recycled water usage by 5%.

At the same time, it is targeting a full-scale adoption of 100% sustainable leather sourcing and a further adoption of 100% recycled materials in key footwear components.

Our initiatives not only benefit the environment but also create a lasting positive impact on the economy, community, and the global footwear industry,” the company said.

This outstanding performance, coupled with its resilience in the face of national crisis, adept solutions to challenges, and innovative initiatives, has earned Apex Footwear the Footwear Retailer of the Year - Bangladesh title. Its commitment to sustainable business has also brought it the Sustainability Initiative of the Year - Bangladesh category win in the awards programme.
