Stibo Systems provides advanced strategies for seamless retail data integration
The bicentennial company has evolved from printing origins to pioneering advanced data integration with unified solutions for retail.
SEAMLESS data integration in retail is a juggernaut for which advanced strategies have been developed by enterprise master data management solutions provider, Stibo Systems.
Founded in 1794 as a printing company, this software group we know today leads in advanced product information management (PIM) and master data management (MDM).
At the recent Retail Asia forum in Bangkok, David Edson, solution architect at Stibo Systems, highlighted the company’s 225-year legacy and its pioneering role in information management, emphasising the need for unified data solutions in today's competitive retail landscape.
Stibo’s PIM and MDM
Edson showcased Stibo’s advanced PIM capabilities, coupled with MDM integration, to streamline product data across platforms and enhance operational efficiency.
“Stibo is a very old company. We’re actually 225 years old. We were printing bibles for the King of Denmark quite some time ago, and we’ve been at the forefront of information management ever since,” he said.
Emphasising the transformative impact of Stibo’s PIM and MDM solutions, Edson cited the challenges posed by dynamic consumer behaviours and the necessity for robust data governance amidst the COVID-19 era.
“We’re working in a real world where customers are one click away from your competition,” he said. “We also have data challenges of trying to bring together a huge range of information that you need to sell your products. Attribution around pricing, attribution around sustainability, images and safety documents, where you've got to deliver this to, it's an insurmountable task to sell.”
Through MDM solutions, all these have been solved, Edson asserted as he noted the importance of data cleanliness and governance.
“As a statistic, nearly a quarter of customers are saying that they're ready to have their data cleansed and used in the information world,” he said, continuing to stress the need for data readiness and governance.
“Because content comes in many forms, many flavours, many languages, many units of measure, we need a mechanism to bring that content into your systems,” he added.
Comprehensive data integration approach
Acknowledging the dynamic nature of content in retail, Edson outlined Stibo Systems’ comprehensive approach to integrating diverse data formats and languages into a cohesive framework, including managing structured data such as pricing and sustainability attributes, as well as unstructured content like PDFs and images processed through AI technologies.
Edson also detailed advancements of its PIM solutions, encompassing customer, supplier, and location domains.
He said these innovations facilitate streamlined data exchange across ERP systems, enhancing operational agility and expanding market reach through platforms like Amazon.
