7-Eleven parent receives buyout proposal from Couche-Tard

Japan’s Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd, which operates 7-Eleven stores worldwide, has confirmed that it has received a preliminary and non-binding acquisition proposal from Canada’s Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. (ACT) to buy all outstanding shares of the company.
The company’s board of directors has established a special committee, exclusively comprised of independent directors and led by Chairperson Stephen Hayes Dacus. The committee will conduct a thorough and careful review of the proposal, along with the company's standalone plans and other potential strategies for enhancing corporate value.
No decision has been made yet on whether to accept, reject, or discuss the proposal with ACT.
