3 Asian countries join Amazon Prime Day

Online retail giant Amazon’s third annual Prime Day will be held on 11 July, and for the first time China and India are joining the list of countries where Amazon Prime members can enjoy 30 hours of deal shopping.

Prime Day, a one-day only global shopping event exclusively for Amazon Prime members, has expanded to 13 countries this year, including Japan, China, India, US, UK, Spain, Mexico, Italy, Germany, France, Canada, Belgium and Austria.

“Our members love Prime Day and we have been thrilled by the response over the last two years. It is inspiring us to make it even better this year for Prime members,” said Greg Greeley, vice president, Amazon Prime. “Every part of our business is working to deliver more deals for a record number of shoppers. This year’s Prime Day is too big for 24 hours – so we’re giving Prime members 30 hours to shop!”

There will be millions of items in stock, including deals from thousands of small businesses and entrepreneurs. In fact, nearly 40% of lightning deals worldwide will come from small businesses on Prime Day.

According to online retailer, small businesses and entrepreneurs on Amazon offering deals to Prime members saw orders nearly triple year-over-year on Prime Day.

The deals will start on 10 July at 6pm PT/9pm ET on amazon.com and new deals are offered as often as every five minutes.
